Energy is present not only in the physical but the etheric bodies surrounding the physical body. Everything is made up of energy! Energy medicine provides safe ways to reconnect with your body’s energy patterns.

Ancient traditions have practiced energy medicine and used the recognized tools that aid energy healing work for thousands of years. Some types of practices that move energy include traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, reflexology, reiki, and shamanism. Sessions are usually individualized to the person’s unique situation in order to restore balance and support optimal energy flow within and around the body.

People often seek help from energy medicine with issues such as:

  • stress
  • anxiety
  • sleep
  • feeling stuck
  • limiting patterns in their life
  • outside influences such as environment/toxins

Today, many practitioners incorporate energy healing techniques and tools along with modern day medicine approaches in order to treat physical and emotional ailments.

What does “healing tools” mean?

Healing energy tools are items that people can use for themselves or that healers may use as part of their practices conducting energy healing work. It’s a broad term that can include many things from tangible objects to shades within the vibrational color spectrum. Regardless of the modality or type of energy work, often it may involve the complementary use of a healing tool.

What is the purpose of healing energy tools?

Think of healing tools as an assistant. They’re used as adjunct therapy. Healers will consider the different way each tool has its own vibration. They’ll consider the person’s vibration and select tools that will complement, optimize, or help achieve the energy work. Healing energy tools can be used to magnify and build upon the energy work being conducted.

What are effective healing tools and when are they used?

When people hear the term healing energy tool, they think of things like gemstones and crystals because they have healing qualities. Many people carry these with them daily or incorporate specific stones purposefully into their energy work because of the particular energetic and healing qualities each gemstone or crystal may contain. For instance, Carnelian stone works with a person’s creativity. Blue Lapis supports spiritual enlightenment.  Someone may choose to do meditations or healing work accompanied by these stones depending on what issues they seek to resolve. Working with crystals and gemstones are very individualistic and the person should use whichever stone resonates with them.

One of the most commonly known tools for healing energy are essential oils. Every oil has a different vibration and works on the energetic level of the person being treated. Lavender is usually associated with relaxation. Jasmine has a very high vibration and can be used to lift someone’s spirits or to treat grief. Cedar wood is grounding which makes it ideal for use in blends for people who have trouble with fleeting thoughts. Essential oils are easy to find and are widely accepted by most people in healing environments, making them an excellent choice as an energy healing tool.

Sage is another commonly known healing energy tool. Often people will smudge before a healing or when someone is sick to cleanse the air. Cedar can also be used for cleansing and is often incorporated in sweat lodge ceremonies.

Even certain colors have healing vibrations and energies that makes them useful in energy work. The colors blue and green are always associated with calm and tranquility. That’s why you often see them in doctor’s offices.

Music, too, has a vibration and can be used as a healing energy tool. At some hospitals, they play different music on different patient floors due to the particular vibration and sensation that it carries. Music has long been recognized as a therapeutic medium for a variety of reasons.

Remember that healing energy tools do not need to be used singularly – they can be mindfully combined by experienced practitioners to obtain maximum benefits for those receiving treatment.

What are the benefits of using healing energy tools?

When energy isn’t allowed to move freely within the body, it can become blocked and stagnant. This can create many physical and emotional problems. The goal of energy medicine and energy healing tools is to unblock energy movement in and around the body in order to restore balance and maintain energetic homeostasis.

Through treatment of energy medicine and the use of energy healing tools, people can experience:

  • increased feelings of wellbeing
  • reduced anxiety and stress
  • feeling grounded, centered, and balanced
  • improved sense of clarity
  • better connectedness to their body

How can someone gain more knowledge and practice about healing tools?

The internet and YouTube are full of classes, videos, and wisdom schools about healing tools. As with anything, you should be a cautious consumer and seek out sources of credible information that you can trust.

Internalizing this knowledge can take a lot of practice and work. There are thousands of stones, gemstones, and crystals to learn about. The same is true for essential oils. Then considering you can strategically blend oils, even more must be learned to make the right composition for individual healing purposes.

You may find that you don’t resonate with gemstones, but you can work with essential oils very freely. You may discover you need to explore which healing tools best fit your modalities. It’s very possible you want to learn about and use multiple healing tools. This is a great opportunity to play around a little! It takes most people years of study and practice, and most will say they’re never quite done learning about healing tools.

What are some examples of what should and should not be used as healing tools?

Again, all healing tools have their own vibration. It is imperative that the energy of the tool to be used is considered and mindfully employed in the energy work. You can’t simply decide that something is a healing tool without understanding its natural vibration.

I encourage everyone to be thoughtful and thorough in sourcing their healing energy tools. As best you can, know the origin of your tools and how they were gathered, collected, assembled, or created.

Healing energy tools that can be cleansed (such as crystals and gemstones) should be. This helps them release stored negative energy and maintain their natural vibration for harmony and future energy work.
